Since the dawn of digital photography, the demand for digital files of our images has become increasingly popular. At this point, virtually every customer will ask the magic question, “Can I get a CD?” or “Can I get the digital files?” Many photographers have resigned to just charging for the session and including CD’s of the images. Until all consumer photo labs make it a standard to produce professional quality custom prints, it is my own responsibility to ensure that all of my images are produced with the color, quality and care that sets us apart and lives up to our standards to speak for Legacy Photography.
It is important for us to establish a pricing standard that will be profitable now and in the future as the industry continues to move into the digital world. We have developed a policy option that I feel will satisfy both the needs and desires for my customers to have their files while letting me monitor the quality with which those files are printed and displayed.

- Web Ready files are optimized for viewing on a screen. They have a faded “watermark” with the Legacy Photography Logo identifying them as copyrighted material. They are ideal for use on Blogs, Facebook, MySpace, Emailing etc. Not permitted for printing.

- Print Ready files will have a smaller watermark logo discreetly placed in the corner or bottom of the image. They are still good for internet use, but are larger files suitable for print up to a 5x7. They are copyrighted with permission to you for printing up to 5x7 at a recommended professional lab in your area. Great for scrapbooking and sharing with relatives. These files are also permitted for marketing purposes to use on your business cards, flyers or on your business/commercial website. They may not be re-sold for profit and the copyright may not be transferred.
Print Ready Price – First 4 images: $25 each
5 -35 images: $15 each
All event images: $525
- High Res files are the files I use to print your high quality images at any size on any art medium including canvas and fine art paper. These files will still bear the Legacy Photography Logo, but you may print them to any size. Copyright permission will be granted to a local professional lab that I trust to handle my art and print rights will be granted to you.
High Res Price – First 5 images: $110 each
6 – 10 images: $525 set
All Event images: $850
Important Notice about COPYRIGHT protection: The Copyright Protection Act protects photographers by giving the author of the photograph the exclusive right to reproduce your photographs. This includes the right to control the making of copies. It is illegal to copy or reproduce the images we produce for you anywhere else without our permission. Violators of this Federal Law will be subject to its civil and criminal penalties. We will try to accommodate all reasonable requests. Please feel free to discuss your needs with us so that we may have the opportunity to serve you better.
If you decide to purchase digital files, you will have permission to print them at a local professional photo lab chosen by the photographer. Legacy Photo has established relationships with local professional labs and will contact them with your client information and/or images authorizing copyright permission with print rights to you. It’s important for you to realize that color and image quality will differ drastically between labs. We encourage you to inspect each image and demand the best color and quality production. Legacy Photography has chosen these labs for you because they are trusted and professional; they have a reputation for quality and are willing to print to the customer’s satisfaction. We do not want our work to be printed by a consumer lab that will not take the care to produce quality products. Every image we create bears our name and represents Legacy Photography. Price lists to these labs are available upon request.
